Valentine’s Day Treat Board + Baked Donut Recipe

Valentine’s Day Treat Board + Baked Donut Recipe

You know by now I love a seasonal treat board! This one I added these heart shaped baked donuts and Everett’s excitement for them was too cute, I’ll definitely be making them again! They’re also very easy to make which is always a bonus. The rest of the candies all came from Target. Funny story about the sour patch kids; I found a huge bag that I had purchased last summer when I made a 4th of July themed board (blog post here), I just picked out the blue ones and kept the red and white ones.

Baked Donut Recipe

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 6 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup + 2 Tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1. Preheat oven to 350*. Combine the sugar, melted butter, egg, milk, vanilla and almond extract in a bowl. I use a 2 cup measuring cup to melt the butter and then use that same cup to add the rest of these ingredients to (save on dishes!).

2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt.

3. Add the wet ingredients to the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix together.

4. Spray your pan with oil. Transfer the batter to a piping bag, you can also use a ziploc bag, and cut the corner to evenly pipe into the donut pan.

5. Bake for about 11-12 minutes for a mini pan and 15 minutes for a regular sized donut pan. Allow to cool slightly before icing.

6. To make the icing: add powdered sugar, milk and vanilla to a shallow bowl. Stir to combine. I aim for a thick glaze that won’t run off the donut. Add more powdered sugar to thicken and more milk to thin, if needed, in small increments.

7. I take the donut and dip it right into the icing going about halfway down the sides of the donut. Twist slightly to pull it up out of the icing and place on parchment paper to set. Top with sprinkles or whatever you choose!

Christmas Treat Board and Peppermint Bark Cheesecake Dip Recipe

Christmas Treat Board and Peppermint Bark Cheesecake Dip Recipe

I love a good holiday themed treat board, they’re so much fun to put together! I shared this on Instagram a few days ago and promised the recipe to the Peppermint Bark Cheesecake Dip so I am happy to finally get this post put together this morning. Both boys are content at the moment so I am hustling to get this done before I get interrupted!

I went with a semi-homemade approach to my board. I made the Cheesecake dip, Gingersnap cookies and dipped the pretzels in chocolate topped with sprinkles. The rest is store bought from Target. I initially wanted to add mini Santa sugar cookies and mini gingerbread cookies but I was not able to get those done last weekend so I moved on without them. I am hoping to do a lot of baking this weekend so when I get those done I will share the final product with you 🙂

8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup marshmallow fluff
1/2 cup cool whip
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 cup chopped Ghirardelli peppermint bark squares
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

1. In your stand mixer, I used the paddle attachment, beat your cream cheese until smooth. Add marshmallow fluff and cool whip and mix well.

2. Slowly add the powdered sugar and once combined mix well.

3. Fold in chopped peppermint bark and mini chocolate chips.

4. Transfer to your serving bowl and chill in the refrigerator for a couple hours before serving. Top with additional chopped peppermint bark or mini chocolate chips if you’d like. My favorite things to dip in this are graham crackers (chocolate ones are the best but I couldn’t find them anywhere!) or pretzels.

This is such an easy recipe and I’d love to know what you think if you end up making it. Also, if you’re wondering whether I made it through this blog post without the kids needing me the answer is absolutely NOT, haha. I hope this post brings you some holiday treat board inspiration just in time for the season!

Christmas Decor on Sale | 2021

I love all these items from McGee and Co and had all of them in my cart at one point but ended up ordering the tree topper, wooden pedestal and the bells.

I shared these Pottery Barn finds during their sale and many are still on sale! I ordered that stocking for Cullen to match our other ones and this rug here. I have that throw blanket in the gray color from a few years ago and it’s suuuuper warm and cozy!

Finally I am sharing these favorite finds from Nordstrom. I haven’t placed an order yet for any of this stuff but I probably will within the next couple when I know what I might still be needing for decor. Hope you’re having a great weekend!
