Kids Halloween Bookshelves and an Easy DIY

I had so much fun putting this year’s Halloween bookshelves together. I did the bats last year too and had to do it again, they add such a fun and festive touch and I knew my son would love them. He’s almost 2 1/2 so I am really excited for all the holidays this year. I’ve already had fun getting him into the Halloween spirit and he’s loving it too. I better start thinking about what costumes to get the boys this year.

I wanted to add a sign or banner to tie it all together so I ended up making one! It was soooo easy, I just used supplies I already had on hand. I started by grabbing a piece of black cardstock paper and free handed the letters. I used an exacto knife to carve out the centers. I then found a few different yarn and ribbon options I had on hand and made little tassels with those for the ends. I just cut them into strips and tied the bunch together right in the middle with another piece of ribbon. I added holes to the letters so I could thread some twine through them and tied the tassels on to each end. I wish I had more ribbon in order to make more of a dramatic look but still happy with how it turned out and it didn’t cost me anything!

Styling an Entryway Bench for Fall

I am always thinking of ways to rearrange things and spaces in our house. Seeing if there’s a layout that flows better or makes more sense. In the above photo I moved the entryway bench to this small side wall, the photo below shows where it was before. I like that the print and bench together create more of completed space and it opens up access to the windows better. I don’t think I’m done rearranging things in this space but we will see how this works for now. Eventually I’d like to change the entire style of this room but there are other areas of the house much higher up on the list. 🙂

The entryway bench is old from Target and I couldn’t seem to find it but linked a couple similar options that are very reasonable. Also that blanket is sooo incredibly soft!

Favorite Vases Under $50

I love finding a good vase, one decent sized one that makes a statement. Shared a couple recent photos styling a few of these vases for fall but also wanted to show you the black vase because it’s so pretty. I had that one on the table this summer but just got the other white one so I switched it out for fall. I still have the black one in this breakfast nook area, just not on the table. I need to find some more stems to order this fall as well. I’ll share more information on fall stems in an upcoming blog post. 🙂
