I want to share some of my favorite baby items that we’ve been using through Everett’s first 6 months. Everything I am about to talk about are things that we use almost daily. Another reason I want to share these items is because I spent a lot of time doing research before deciding what I ultimately wanted for Everett so I feel very confident in these suggestions. Of course there are so many great items out there, and splurging on some of these things is not totally necessary, but we do have some very generous family and friends for gifting Everett with a few of these items and we are so thankful for that!
Larger Items:
Dock A Tot – It’s perfect for daytime naps and we feel completely safe allowing Everett to sleep in there. He does not sleep in there at night, he is in a bedside bassinet but the Dock A Tot has been wonderful for napping. Another really convenient aspect is how portable it is. We’ve taken it with us on many weekend trips, it doesn’t take up too much space and has always come in handy.
Hatch Sound Machine – This device is awesome and also portable making it very easy to travel with. I love that I can access the device through the app on my iPhone – including turning it on/off, adjusting the noise level, color, sounds, etc. Each night we turn this on for white noise and we use the red light. I initially liked the blue light but did a little research and apparently red is the best for sleep so that’s what we’re going with. I think once Everett starts sleeping in his own room Wes and I will have to get another one for us to use – we’ve become to accustomed to the soothing noise!
Nuna Pipa Car Seat – I love this car seat so much. I did quite a bit of research before making this purchase and I can say it was most definitely worth the investment. Everett can end up spending quite a bit of time in his car seat depending on where we are going and it’s something we usually use multiple times a day. It also attaches easily to this stroller, which I am also obsessed with. I really can’t say enough good things about this car seat.
Bloom Coco Go Lounger – Another really great item for travelling with. This folds down flat and has a carrying case so it’s a breeze to bring along somewhere. It folds up/down in a matter of seconds as well – super convenient and portable. We also keep this set up in Everett’s nursery which allows him to sit upright and play with books, toys, etc.
4moms Playard – We got the breeze and it’s been great. I can’t find the exact one we have but I will link to their model that would be most similar. What sold me was the easy set up and take down. I have seen one too many people struggle with setting up their pack and plays that I was on a mission to find something that wouldn’t be that difficult. I definitely found it with this item. It takes just a few seconds to expand and fold back up. We used this a lot over the summer and the bassinet insert was perfect for our newborn at the time.
Smaller Items:
Comotomo Bottles – We started out using the nanobebe bottles and I wanted to love them so bad but the truth is they were awful for us. No matter what we did they always seemed to leak, which was super frustrating and messy. We ended up switching to Tommee Tippee bottles which worked just fine. One downside was due to the shape of the bottle it was always hard to get the last 0.5 ounce out. I then purchased the comotomo bottles and never looked back, they’ve been excellent! The soft/squishy bottle makes it easy for him to grab at and eventually hold on to.
Bandana Bibs – I am obsessed with the Copper Pearl bandana bibs. They are super soft and functional, not to mention adorable! We go through anywhere from 1-3 bibs a day, mostly due to all the drooling that comes with teething. Their burp cloths are also great, I love how big and absorbent they are.
Stretchy Swaddles – The Copper Pearl swaddles have been so wonderful. Again they are very soft and the stretchy material makes swaddling your baby a breeze. I didn’t find these until Everett was a few months old but I sure wish I would have had them from the beginning! A couple of my favorite ones can be found here and here.
Nose Frida – A friend got this for me as a gift and I remember her saying she thought it was really gross at first but it quickly became an essential item in their home and she was right. This little device will get the job done and I don’t even think it’s gross now that I’ve tried it out for myself. Everett doesn’t seem to enjoy it too much but the nose frida is pretty quick to use and effective at the same time.
